The guys from NZXT have sent us their NZXT H500i chassis, an advanced model that promises to delight even the most sybaritic users with its spectacular sybaritic characteristics. We are talking about an ATX tower that offers us a large tempered glass window along with an RGB lighting system, and a fairing for the power supply.

All this without forgetting its spectacular design and the high quality of this brand. Will it measure up to the rest of the brand's products? Don't miss our review! Here we go!

As always, we are grateful to NZXT for the trust placed in transferring the product to us for analysis.

NZXT H500i technical features

Unboxing and design

For the presentation of the NZXT H500i chassis, a large cardboard box with a simple design based on the brand's corporate colors was chosen. The box shows us a high resolution photo of the chassis with a very good quality impression, it also highlights some of its most important features on the sides.

We open the box and find the NZXT H500i chassis very well accommodated with cork pieces to prevent it from moving during transport, the chassis has also been covered with a plastic bag for greater protection of its delicate surface. It is a very careful and typical presentation in all the products of this brand.

We take out all the elements and find the following bundle:

  • Instruction manual and quick guide. All the accessories necessary for mounting the equipment inside. Two RGB LED strips.

The NZXT H500i chassis is built in an ATX format, this time it has dimensions of 210mm x 460mm x 428mm and a weight of 7Kg. Its manufacture is based on the best materials, such as SECC steel and tempered glass with a thickness of 4 mm. The manufacturer has opted for a minimalist design that looks great, the black and white color scheme is a success. NZXT tends to always move away from very aggressive designs, allowing it to offer products that suit the tastes of all users.

As usual, a tempered glass window has been included that occupies the entire side, making its appearance spectacular. This large window will allow us to appreciate from the outside and in a very easy way the aesthetics of all our hardware, something very important in the middle of the RGB lighting era. The window is fastened with four thumb screws, which include a rubber gasket to prevent damage to the glass, and can be removed very easily without the need for tools.

The right side is totally clean, the white color looks great and shows that sometimes the simplest is the most beautiful.

The front panel has a really minimalist design, we simply see a steel plate with the brand logo in the lower area, in addition, it is quite small. Behind this front are two Aer F 120mm fans with RGB lighting for better aesthetics.

To achieve such a clean front, the I / O panel has been moved to the top, this time it offers us two USB 3.0 ports along with the 3.5 mm connectors for audio and micro and the power button.

In this upper part there is also a magnetic dust filter that is located between the fan and the plate, to protect the fan installed in this area, this filter can be removed in a very simple way to facilitate cleaning.

We reach the rear, where we find the installation area of the power supply at the bottom, the ideal location for it to take air directly from outside the equipment and thus achieve better cooling. In this rear area we have the usual seven expansion slots and the 120 mm fan, as standard includes a high-performance Aer F.

The lower part has four legs finished in rubber, in this way the chassis will rest on the table perfectly and there will be no risk of it slipping. We also found a dust filter for the power supply, which will help keep it cleaner and in an optimal state.

Interior and assembly

To access the interior of the NZXT H500i chassis we just have to remove the four thumb screws of the tempered glass side panel, something that is really simple.

Before we start talking about the right interior, the main one, we want to show you some images of how the opposite and least interesting face of all the boxes is.

First of all, we look at the installation area of the motherboard, this chassis supports Mini-ITX, MicroATX and ATX models, offering great versatility of use, although we do not believe that anyone will put a Mini ITX motherboard in a such a large chassis.

From here we can also see a multitude of openings for cable management, something that will be quite simple given the large amount of space left behind the motherboard, between 19 and 23mm.

As for the heatsink, we can mount one of up to 165 mm in height, and a graphics card with a maximum length of 381 mm, which guarantees full compatibility with the best models on the market. The graphics card can be mounted vertically, although for this we will need a riser that is not included as standard.

In the lower area is the cover for the power supply, which is completely isolated so that it is not affected by the heat generated by the rest of the hardware components. This fairing offers us space for up to three 3.5-inch hard drives and three more than 2.5-inch.

The NZXT H500i version features the smart device that combines functions of the NZXT Grid + and HUE + controllers. Its main function is to control one lighting channel with individual control over each LED and three fan speed channels together with a noise reduction function through the CAM interface. To reduce costs, NZXT has decided not to include RGB fans, but we do want to include this module in the future.

NZXT includes a controller that allows us to manage a maximum of eight Aer RGB fans or three of these fans along with four RGB LED strips.

At the cooling level, it has two 120mm AF120 fans installed without RGB lighting. It has a speed of 1200 RPM and an air flow of 50.42 CFM. Although we do not like the position that comes for a classic heatsink, I would recommend changing the position of the roof to the front.

It also allows us to install two fans in the front area of 120 mm to mount liquid cooling. We believe that at the refrigeration level it is a very competent box and that the non-incorporation of RGB lighting is adjusted to a restrained price.

This is how the fully assembled team looks, really spectacular. Do you like it as much as we do?

Final words and conclusion about NZXT H500i

We believe that the work done by NZXT in the design and construction of the NZXT H500i is sublime. It allows us to install motherboards with ATX, micro ATX, itx format, graphics cards up to 38.1 cm and heatsinks with a height of 16.5 cm.

At the cooling level, it performs its function very well even though it incorporates only two fans, but they are of quality. The front allows us to expand it with two fans to improve air flow or mount liquid cooling for our processor.

Another point in favor is the incorporation of two USB 3.1 connections on the front panel. Although we cannot forget that it includes a smart device as standard to control three fan channels with a maximum power of 10w, led strips and integrated noise detection.

We are missing the incorporation of a RISER PCI Express to install the graphics card vertically. Although it is not worrying, since we can quickly acquire it through different stores.

Currently we can acquire it to the NZXT H500i chassis in the main stores with a recommended price of 109.99 euros although we have recently seen it on sale for just 90 euros. Remember that it is available in both full black, white / black, black / red and black / blue. What do you think of this fantastic chassis?
