Oneplus 6 review in Spanish (complete analysis)

With the recent OnePlus 6, the Chinese company intends to continue breaking molds by launching a high-performance smartphone on the market at a very competitive price, something they achieved with their first models back in 2014. It is a business style, to which they have joined other Asian brands, and where rivalry is getting higher. That is why OnePlus tries to put all the meat on the grill with its latest model, the OnePlus 6 is shown as a great terminal on paper, but in turn shows that despite these high-end top-of-the-range features, it is hardly surprising in no way. Perhaps it is something that has been reserved for the T model. On the other hand, it is a very complete terminal, with hardly any unfavorable points. If you want to know more, take a look at our analysis.

OnePlus 6 technical characteristics

Unboxing

We find the characteristic box that OnePlus usually uses for its terminals, a clean and white design where only the company logo and the large screen-printed model number stand out. For its part, the interior part is complemented by a contrast of the brand's own red and white colors. This contrast can be seen on the inserts and on the charging cable. Everything comes in quite well located, and together we will find:

  • OnePlus 6. Type C microUSB charging cable. Power adapter. Gel case. SIM tray extractor. Quick guide.

Design without big news

The OnePlus 6 has a beautiful and elegant design based on rounded curves at corners and edges, but as we discussed in the introduction, it is not a design that surprises or breaks molds. Precisely, speaking of molds, it is of the same mold from which many terminals seem to come out lately, since once again we bet on glass manufacturing on both sides and the inclusion of the notch on the upper front part. It is something that we can notice those in charge of analyzing smartphones on a regular basis, but without a doubt, for the average user, the design will certainly like it.

The measurements of the OnePlus 6 are 75.4 x 155.7 x 7.8 mm and are marked by the screen with 3D curved glass with hardly any edges and which occupies 83% of the front. The weight is slightly above average, 177 grams, but it is not a weight that is noticed during use.

When looking at the front, we only see a small border at the bottom. At the top, the notch decreases more and more, this time it is somewhat smaller, but it is still there. It houses the front camera, the speaker for calls, the proximity sensor and the notification LED.

The back, has a slight curve on the sides, achieving a softer touch than other more rectilinear terminals. While the lower part is clean of any element, the upper part houses the double camera in vertical format and centered exactly in the middle of the device. As a drawback, the sensors protrude one or two millimeters from the housing, which results in the terminal dancing when placed on a flat surface. Luckily, when you use the included case, that lip is flush with the case. Just below the dual camera is the LED flash, and immediately below it is the fingerprint sensor and OnePlus logo. Although the cameras are flush with the case, the fingerprint sensor is somewhat hidden.

As far as the side edges are concerned, the top one houses only the typical noise canceling microphone while the bottom edge hogs the multimedia speaker, the microUSB type C connector, the call microphone and, thankfully, the 3.5mm audio jack.

On the upper left side are the tray to insert two nanoSIM, without the possibility of inserting a microSD card, and a little lower, the volume button, in a position that is not bad but if you hold the OnePlus 6 by hand left, its pulsation becomes more complicated.

Finally, the right edge includes at the top, its typical slide button to switch between the different sound modes, that is: sound, vibration or silent. However, it is a button that I still do not see much use, perhaps because I have been used to changing it from the Android drop-down bar for a long time, obviously it is something personal that each user should value. It remains to point out the on / off button, which is just below the previous button.

For now, it is possible to find the case in mirror black, midnight black, silk white and red. Unfortunately, it is not completely waterproof or dust resistant, only splash resistant.

A screen that behaves

The OnePlus incorporates an AMOLED screen with a good dimensions of 6.28 inches with FullHD + or 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution, which give a density of 402 pixels per inch. Oddly, the screen ratio leaves 18: 9 aside and extends to 19: 9.

The quality of this screen is quite good, in addition to having a good sharpness, the contrast that gives us deep blacks stands out, and the colors are equally good but appear somewhat oversaturated, as usually happens on screens of this type. In this case, there is a software solution, since in the screen settings menu we can choose between different calibrations with different color spaces: the default by default, sRGB, DCI-P3, adaptive according to the situation or, custom color, for choose between a warmer or colder color. In relation to our tastes, we changed it to adaptive to see how it turned out and its behavior was quite good depending on the environment.

The viewing angles are generally good and maintain the details although they suffer from the slight variation to the bluish color that can be seen in some terminals. Fortunately, it is a slight thing and is not perceived if it is not sought.

The brightness level improves what has already been seen in the OnePlus 5 when it reaches the peak of almost 600 nits, a light power more than enough for moments with a lot of sunlight hitting the screen. In that aspect there is no complaint, instead we have had some more problems with automatic brightness, not adjusting well to the situation and finally having to modify it manually.

Among the extra settings, we can find: Night and reading modes, which modify the color and brightness parameters for the designated situations, being able to adjust them manually or choose a time; the notched screen setting, to hide the notch with a black bar; a setting to View applications in full screen; and finally, the Ambient Screen, which allows us to configure what to show on the screen while it is in idle mode.

The sound that could have been and not

The default version of Android that we find when we turn on the OnePlus 6 for the first time is Oreo 8.1, but it is enough to connect it via Wi-Fi to receive the update that makes the jump to Android 9 Pie. Above it we find the OxygenOS personalization layer of OnePlus. A layer that stands out for the absence of its own applications or stuffed with a shoehorn, we will not find any blotware except for a single application called OnePlus Community.

On the other hand, there is not much to highlight about OxygenOS due to the fact that it is not an intrusive or overloaded layer, but actually looks like a close cousin of pure Android. OnePlus bets on the Less is More sentence to create a system that prioritizes fluidity more than anything else.

The extra settings of OxygenOS is almost the only thing that can make us feel like this is a layer. In addition to the screen settings, we will find the typical menu to change the position of the digital buttons or directly delete them and move around the system using navigation gestures; With parallel Applications, we will be able to clone applications as if they were in different terminals; Finally, the OnePlus 6 has Game Mode, which rather than speed up games, allows you to define a specific configuration of the terminal settings for when a game is running.

Regarding the stability of the system, there is no doubt that they have done a good job in optimization and bug solvency.

Powerful hardware but

In this section we see that the OnePlus 6 mounts two Sony brand sensors on the back, the main one is the 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 Exmor RS of CMOS type, with 1.7 focal aperture and 1, 220 micron pixel size. She is accompanied by the 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 Exmor RS sensor, with 2.0 focal aperture and a smaller pixel size of 1 micron. This dual camera features digital zoom, manual, touch and auto focus, white balance, optical and digital image stabilizer, and HDR mode.

Snapshots taken in good light are quite good overall, have a high level of detail and hardly any noise in them. The contrast is usually somewhat overexposed at times, therefore, on more than one occasion we will need to resort to HDR mode to get an image better contrasted and more faithful to what we see. The colors, on the other hand, are shown to be quite correct and reliable, even somewhat more vivid at times. Autofocus is performed quickly in these scenes and performance is almost always good.

Indoors, the catches begin to have more grain, although a good level of detail is maintained. The colors, however, are portrayed somewhat washed out in these situations.

Surprisingly, it can be said that night photos present a higher quality than even interiors. Despite the appearance of the famous noise, the photographs still maintain a decent level of detail and the colors are displayed quite correctly. The focal aperture makes the photos capture more light and appear well lit. It also shows the good work of the sensors and the focus. Where other cameras, in night scenes quickly blur, they keep the type.

The bokéh effect is very precise, only having very slight imperfections in certain loose hairs, but in general the result is very satisfactory

The front camera has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor, with 2.0 focal length and 1 micron pixel size. This camera offers a fairly good level of detail and very correct colors. The contrast is good but this time it could be better.

Portrait mode achieves the same with its rear sister, very good precision with a small element left out.

The OnePlus 6 can record in up to 4K at 60fps or up to 1080p at 240fps. It is not one of the best terminals recording video, although it performs well. Colors are well represented, but noise and blur caused by uneven stabilization sometimes spoil the set.

The camera app is one of the simplest we have found, in its main interface you can slide to make video, photo or portrait. In addition, at the top you can activate or deactivate the timer, the photo ratio or the flash. For other settings like slow motion, pro mode or time lapse you need to swipe up.

A battery on schedule

The OnePlus 6 includes a 3300 mAh battery, a capacity not very high but that can still be managed well. During our testing, we tend to always make normal use of smartphones: social networks, web browsing, music playback, videos and games. In this way, we have achieved some disparate results in terms of screen hours, which has been maintained between 4 and 6 hours.

On the other hand, the global autonomy of the OnePlus 6 barely reaches a day and a half, something that is not bad but that could be better.

The OnePlus Dash Charge has changed its name and is now called Fast Charge, although for us the name does not matter as long as it loads quickly. This time, the OnePlus 6 charges half its battery in just 25 minutes and the full battery in an hour and a quarter.

On the other hand, the company decided not to include wireless charging for not seeing it as useful or fast today, and for the extra cost of its inclusion.

Connectivity

The Oneplus 6 is not surprising in the connectivity section and includes: Bluetooth 5, NFC, LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac / 5GHz, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo.

OnePlus 6 conclusion and final words

The OnePlus 6 is undoubtedly a great terminal, as we mentioned at the beginning, its biggest flaw is not to stand out in anything, but to remain good in what you already know, except that the price is increased and does not offer much to so little, now it stays in the same line as the big companies: good hardware at a great price.

The OnePlus 6 has looks that don't stand out but are not bad, like the design, the battery or the hardware; other good aspects like its fluidity, the screen or the OxygenOS layer; and other aspects to improve, such as the camera, the sound, the facial recognition sensor or the price. In this last section we see how almost all versions of the OnePlus 6 exceed € 500, a price with which we bought a large terminal but that would sell much more if it had been launched at a slightly lower price.

We recommend reading Best high-end smartphone

Be that as it may, OnePlus always tries to do a good job but you must put your batteries to re-climb if you are not going to stay in one more of the bunch.

The prices for the different models of the OnePlus 6 are around: € 500 for the 64GB / 6GB, € 550 for 128GB / 8GB and 600 for 256GB / 8GB.
