Radeon vega: amd is considering adding ris to these gpus

In the latest update to Radeon drivers, AMD added RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) technology to all those Polaris graphics cards, but there has been a pretty substantial omission. That is, those who use VEGA graphics cards (such as VEGA 56, 64 and Radeon VII) have been left without this support.

AMD may add RIS to Radeon VEGA graphics, but will depend on community

With Radeon Image Sharpening technology reaching Polaris graphics, and being present in the RX 5700 series, there is no explanation why RIS was not included in VEGA.

However, things would be about to change. AMD has said they are willing to consider adding RIS support to VEGA cards, but only if there is a demand for it.

We know that most of the graphics cards that AMD sells at the moment come from its RX 400 and RX 500 series (Polaris), so it makes sense that they want to provide it with the best facilities and support. Still, implementing RIS doesn't seem like an easy task for AMD at the software level. It doesn't seem like trying to add a couple of codes to the controllers to activate them, but there must be a lot of previous work to adapt this technology to a different architecture such as VEGA.

AMD has said that, if it is popular enough, and Vega owners seem to make enough noise by demanding it, they will seek to bring it to the platform.

In this way, AMD passes the ball to the community so that this functionality reaches the VEGA graphics. What do you think?
