Razer reportedly canceled smartphone development
Table of contents:
Razer has left us with two smartphones so far. As expected in the brand, these are two models intended for gaming. Their reception in the market has not been negative, although they could have sold better. But it seems that the brand is not entirely satisfied with these results. So they would have made the decision to cancel the launch of smartphones.
Razer reportedly canceled smartphone development
Therefore, we should not expect new phones from the brand in the future, at least as reported by some media in the past few hours.
Razer cancels the launch of smartphones
Apparently, the company has fired a percentage of its workforce, approximately 2% of it. This percentage of Razer employees who have lost their jobs would be responsible for developing the brand's next smartphone. So this project would be canceled in this way. The firm has left enough workers to support the models they have in stores now.
But for the moment, or maybe even definitively, we shouldn't expect any phone from him. A decision that can undoubtedly have many consequences. So this gaming segment may not go as well as expected.
Razer has not confirmed anything officially. Although it is expected that they will do so soon. But without a doubt, it is a significant change of direction for the company. Little more than a year after entering this segment, they leave it now.
From Razer Spain they clarify for us:
“ Within our mobile division, there were some staff members who were fired and others who were reassigned to new projects. We see great opportunities in the mobile gaming space we have created with the Razer Phone , and we will continue to invest in this category through a combination of hardware and software initiatives. We are working on exciting new mobile projects and will share the news when we are ready. The Razer Phone 2 will continue for sale and we are committed to supporting you with the latest updates and features. ”
