The Razer Kraken X Lite are a low cost variant of the Kraken X. This causes us to notice a certain reduction in them in terms of details or materials, but it is something that goes along with its low price.

Unboxing of the Razer Kraken X Lite

The Razer Kraken X Lite is presented in a satin cardboard box with a matte finish and details highlighted with resin. What we receive is a photograph of the headphones along with the Razer logo and model name. Next we can see four key highlights:

  • Jack 3.5 mixed Surround Sound 7.1 Ultralight flexible cardioid microphone with memory foam

For its part on the sides we have a new Razer logo and model name with some more prominent details such as the 40mm drivers and adapted structure to avoid pressure on the frames of those who wear glasses.

Finally on the back we find another image of the helmets accompanied by an infographic on the most important aspects of their design. In the lower left corner we can also read information regarding 7.1 sound, available only for Windows 10 PC users. Finally in the lower right corner we also have a seal that certifies a two-year guarantee.

The Razer Kraken X Lite are fully assembled headphones with plastic materials that combine matte black and gloss finishes. The first thing that can catch your attention is its weight. At just 250g they are one of the lightest headphones we've tested.

The supraural band

The supraural band has a matte finish, plush being a single plastic band with a slight flexibility in its structure.

In the band itself we find the name of Razer engraved in bas-relief. This one has a resinous padding that makes it slightly reflective.

On the inner face of the plush the covering is made of black visco elastic foam with a leatherette touch.

The structure of the headphones is made of matte black plastic with a mesh outer band. Right in the middle we have the Razer logo also in a reflective black finish.

Moving on to the inner lining, the Razer Kraken X Lite is lined with a visco-elastic foam sleeve just like the adrenal arch.

In your case we can notice that the covers are easily removable to carry out a dry cleaning. In the back area there is a fine mesh of black fiber that covers the sound drivers.

With the headphones exposed we can appreciate the die cut made in the 40mm sound drivers and we can see the transducers through them.

The microphone

Above the microphone, it is assembled with a flexible rubber tubular covering.

Although the microphone is not removable, it has the advantage of being unidirectional, so the capture of unwanted noise should be minimal.

The wire

Regarding the cable of the Razer Kraken X Lite, this has by default a mixed 3.5 jack termination and has a length of 130cm.

As an addition we have an audio and microphone splitter extender to connect the headphones. These on the jack have their respective icons engraved on the jack.

Putting the Razer Kraken X Lite headphones to use

Using the Razer Kraken X Lite the first thing we can highlight are two factors: its comfort and its weight. The space reserved for the ear pavilion is generous, so that our ears do not feel pressured even if we are using them for several hours.

Moving on to the sound, the Razer Kraken X Lite works by default in stereo on all platforms. In the case of PC users with Windows 10 operating system, they have the possibility to activate 7.1 surround sound. The 40mm drivers generate an intermediate sound quality in which the highs and lows do not get far apart, generating a somewhat neutral tonal range.

The microphone is in a similar situation: Being unidirectional it captures almost exclusively our voice, but we cannot expect the same purity as other high-end Razer models.

Final words and conclusions about Razer Kraken X Lite

The Razer Kraken X Lite are a low cost variant of the Kraken X. This causes us to notice a certain reduction in them in terms of details or materials, but it is something that goes along with its low price.

We highlight two factors: comfort and weight.

However, this does not mean that they are not fully compatible with practically all the most popular platforms: PC, PS4, XBox One and smartphones. The addition of a dual 3.5 jack not only adapts it to the classic PC format, but slightly lengthens its length. On the other hand, the headphones do not have any type of integrated controller or braided cable. We understand that its absence is a direct consequence of its low price, but we will also understand that there may be users who miss it.

The stereo sound is adequate to your budget, the 40mm transducers give their best within their possibilities although the most seasoned users may notice a certain lack of bass.

Regarding 7.1 sound, the Razer Kraken X Lite try to emphasize the atmospheric effect by generating a greater tonal distance between the various frequencies to gain three-dimensionality, although the preference of this format is relative to each user. It works correctly, although taking into account the size of the drivers, it is not possible to perceive a radical change compared to conventional stereo.

The Kraken X Lite is released at a price of € 39.99, making it one of the cheapest Razer headphones to date. In short: if you have a very tight budget you can consider them as one more option on the table.
