Anonim

Kingston has designed a SATA3 solid state drive (6GB / s) with the new SandForce SF-2281 controller. This is the new Kingston HyperX SSD series (HyperX models are the highest range in Kingston) with capacity of 120 and 240Gbytes. The Professional Review Team has brought the 120GB model with 25nm Intel NAND technology to our laboratory.

The specific model that we are going to analyze is the SH100S3B / 120GB. The included accessories are very complete: adapter for 3.5 ″, screwdriver, screws, external box for the disk, USB cable and SATA cable. Support for SATA 3.0 and its extremely high sequential speed rates make it a highly recommended purchase.

To check the performance of the SSD, we have used the following synthetic test programs: HD Tune, Atto Bench and Crsytal Disk Mark . With them we will measure the reading speed, access time, random access…

Note: In all tests the SSD at all times acts as the main disk with the OS and has 22% of the disk occupied.

HD TUNE:

Crystal Disk Mark. It is not the application that best checks the performance of Sandforce controllers:

On the other hand, Atto Bench if it shows the most real values of the SSD:

However we have performed several REAL tests. We have copied large files between the SSD and the Samsung HDD, let's see the results obtained:

  • HDD to SSD 1 7.81GB file: 55 seconds SDS to HDD 1 7.81GB file: 58 seconds HDD to SDD 1741 files to 11.2GB: 1 minute 46 seconds SDS to HDD 1741 files to 11.2GB: 1 minute 54 seconds.

We are pleased that Kingston is routing its new SSDs with the new Sandforce controllers. Its blue / silver design is groundbreaking and very pleasing to the eye. It includes a wide range of accessories and the Hyperx range has been thought down to the last detail. Nice gesture when including a CD with the installation guide and the cloning software Acronis True Imagen HD, with it we can make backup to our new disk.

In synthetic and real tests it has fulfilled the expectations created. During his stay in the laboratory he did not give any blue screenshots, so common in SSDs that their firmware is not debugged.

The album can be found in stores for around € 240. That is, in the line of other discs with sandforce controller but these do not include as many accessories or Kingston technical support.

WE RECOMMEND you Fedora 26 will increase the performance of encrypted SSD drives
