We continue to see gaming peripherals and this time we have in our hands the Sharkoon Skiller SGH1, circumaural helmets that promise to offer us good sound quality and good comfort at a reduced price. One of its attractions is great compatibility thanks to its 3.5 mm jack connector, we can use them on our PC, our mobile or tablet and new generation consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One among many others. If you want to know more about the Sharkoon Skiller SGH1, don't miss our review in Spanish.

Sharkoon Skiller SGH1: technical characteristics

Sharkoon Skiller SGH1: unboxing and product analysis

The Sharkoon Skiller SGH1 are offered in a cardboard box with a design dominated by the company's corporate colors, we have a quite aggressive look that reminds us that they are aimed at a young audience. On the front we find an image of the headphones with its logo and also its most important characteristics such as its high-quality stereo sound, a modular cable to better adapt to all users and a pair of replacement pads. We appreciate a transparent plastic window that will serve us to appreciate details of the helmets before going through the box, all a detail. Already on the back of the box we see more detailed its most important characteristics in several languages, including Spanish.

Once we have seen the bag, we have to open the box and start to see what we find in it. Apart from the helmets themselves, we see a black cloth bag that will serve to store them when we are not using them and keep them in the best possible conditions.. We continue and see its modular cable that includes the volume control knob and the microphone, this cable ends in two 3.5 mm jack connectors, one of them for the speakers and the other for the detachable microphone. Of course we also find the detachable mic and a set of replacement pads.

We already focus on the Sharkoon Skiller SGH1 themselves, the helmets look quite good with a design that combines black and white / blue although the former is much more abundant and the latter is reduced to some details. It is a somewhat aggressive design that reminds us that it is a product focused mainly on a young audience, although of course everyone can benefit from high-quality helmets like these. The Sharkoon Skiller SGH1 are built with plastic as the predominant material, something that helps them to be very light and comfortable once placed on the user's head, they only weigh 253 grams.

We have a double metallic tubular bridge design that is in charge of puncturing the helmets from above, thus achieving a higher closing pressure on the pads that allows greater insulation than in the case of using only one axis. Beneath the two tubes is a synthetic leather upper strap with two elastic ends, covering the entire upper head path. It is a design that we have already seen previously and that has always left us with good feelings, this time it can only be better due to the low weight of the helmets.

The area of the headphones shows a simple design while quite attractive, we have a perforated black plastic finish in the center of which the brand logo is placed. It may seem like a simple design but with it Sharkoon saves the higher price that a more innovative design would suppose and with it it can offer a cheaper product to gamers, let's not forget that the really important thing in helmets is comfort and sound quality. The sound quality is determined by its neodymium drivers with a size of 40 mm, the rest of its characteristics include an impedance of 32 Ω, a frequency response of 20 Hz - 20, 000 Hz, a sensitivity of 98 dB ± 3 dB and a maximum power of 100 mW. The speakers have a padding that is quite soft, so a good comfort is expected when using them.

In the left earphone we find the cable and a removable microphone so that it will not bother us when we are not using it. It is an omni-directional microphone with noise cancellation technology that will allow us to communicate with our colleagues in a very comfortable way during our favorite games. This microphone has an impedance of 2.2 KOhm, a frequency range of 50 Hz - 16 KHz, and a sensitivity of -58 dB ± 3 dB. Finally we see the cable of the Sharkoon Skiller SGH1, it is meshed in black and blue for greater resistance and at its end we see a three-way 3.5 mm mini jack connector, two of them for stereo sound and the other for the micro.

As we have said, it is a modular cable design so we have a second cable that includes the control knob with the options to increase / decrease the volume and turn the microphone on / off. This auxiliary cable will also serve to separate the microphone and speakers into two 3.5 mm jack connectors. All connectors are gold plated to improve contact and protect them better.

Final words and conclusion

Sharkoon offers us an interesting proposal for users who are looking for off-road helmets with good sound quality. The Sharkoon SGH1 are helmets that we can use with a large number of devices and in a very comfortable way thanks to their design based on a 3.5 mm jack connector.

Its neodymium speakers are based on good quality 40mm drivers that do a very remarkable job and allow to maintain a very good sound despite its modest size, it is true that the bass is slightly weaker than with larger headphones but they keep the type very well and offer us a very successful sound. The inclusion of a removable micro is another success that allows us to store it when we are not using it to prevent it from bothering us, personally I prefer a retractable design but it is not bad.

The Sharkoon Skiller SGH1 are for sale for an approximate price of 40 euros, although right now it seems difficult to get them due to their low stock.
