Sharkoon announced just a year ago the Sharkoon SKILLER SGS1. Its most affordable gaming chair model for those looking for something of this type without spending a pasture. For this, they have designed a chair that combines stylized sports lines together with a classic style material, such as synthetic leather. In the end, what is really important is not only the price, but its relationship with the quality it offers. Let's take a look at it, or rather, lie down on it.

Unboxing and design

Things come in boxes, as is normal. In this case we will find a very large box. Inside come the parts of the chair, very well placed next to each other, covered in protective plastic and ready to be assembled. In this section it does not differ much from other models. Inside the box we find:

The Sharkoon SKILLER SGS1 weighs 15 Kg and has an internal structure made of wood, covered with polyurethane foam with a density of between 24 and 28 Kg / m, which in turn is upholstered with synthetic polyurethane and PVC leathers. The predominant color is black, with two vertical bands that can have different colors depending on the model: black, green, blue, red and gray. The armrests, likewise, are foam-filled and of a fixed type.

Mounting

To start the assembly, first we will take the five-spoke steel base and introduce one by one, and doing a little pressure, each of the 5 wheels in their respective hole. These wheels are made of hard and resistant plastic and have a diameter of 5 cm.

The next step requires inserting the gas piston into the steel base and its protective cover. This class 3 gas piston is capable of supporting a maximum weight of 100 Kg without any risk.

Once the base is ready, it is necessary to fix the chair mechanism to the seat base, aligning both parts so that the screws can be inserted.

After that, it is necessary to carry out the same alignment and screwing process to join the two armrests with the seat base. Once this stage is completed, it is already possible to place the seat on the base of the wheels.

The last step will be to place the backrest on the seat and screw it to the armrests in the same way as we did with the seat base. First the screws at the bottom of the backrest and then the ones at the top. Once this is done on both sides, we will have the chair ready to use. To cover the holes where the screws are housed, we will have trim caps that can be inserted easily.

Experience

Assembly takes only 15 minutes and is generally easy to perform. The only part that requires more patience and tomorrow is the last one, screwing the armrests with the parts of the seat.

The seat base of the chair is wide enough for most people, more specifically for users of small and medium build. The foam of this base offers, on the other hand, a fairly good thickness that is good for long days of use. During our tests we have not felt any discomfort with the passing of the hours.

We can vary the height of the seat with the piston from a minimum height of 48 cm from the ground to 57.5 cm.

The backrest has a thickness of foam similar to that of the base that, in the same way, improves comfort during use. Being 184 cm tall, my head rests just on the upper edge of the backrest. It is not uncomfortable but it is necessary to know it beforehand, since, if you have a smaller stature, the rest of the head is improved.

The Sharkoon SKILLER SGS1 model, unlike others, does not have cushions. Perhaps the one on the back is not missing but one for the head would have been good.

The armrests are composed of a slightly thinner comfortable foam, just enough to cushion them without taking away the stiffness necessary to support the arms. As a drawback, these armrests are fixed and have no moving part.

The angle of inclination that we find in this chair is not very wide, it is around 3 and 18 degrees. To harden or smooth this tilt, it is necessary to turn a wheel under the seat.

Finally, the wheels are the typical hard plastic ones. They do not slide at all bad but they do not have a rubber band to minimize noise. The radial base for the wheels has a diameter of 65 cm, so it will be necessary to have a good space around it.

Sharkoon has created with the SKILLER SGS1 an economic model and within the reach of anyone who wants to enjoy a gaming chair without spending money.

The main factor fulfills it, it is a comfortable chair in all aspects. The synthetic leather fabric offers a good touch and softness, on the contrary, we do not find an excellent quality material and the brand does not intend it either. Cheaper materials based on price.

As I mentioned before, it is recommended for people of small or medium complexion that does not exceed 100 Kg of weight and does not measure more than 185 cm.

Being an inexpensive gaming chair, it has other shortcomings such as the absence of cushions, the non-adjustable armrests or the low inclination of the seat. Aspects that, in my opinion, are not so necessary either but it is something that depends on each person.

It is not the best chair on the market, but it is one of the best in terms of quality / price ratio. It can be used both to spend hours playing that favorite game and for other more mundane tasks. We can find it valued between a price range that can vary from € 100 to € 150.
