This time with mice, things are going, and it is that the SKILLER SGM3 from Sharkoon has fallen into our networks. This dual-use mouse has frankly made a very good impression on us after use, take a look at why!
Sharkoon is a German company that directs its products to the pc public and is especially oriented towards gaming. Without abusing price, here we are going to show you why the SKILLER SGM3 can take this shark to compete with the largest fish in the aquarium.
Unboxing and design
Sample of the range of colors to choose from SKILLER SGM3 First, let's start with the packaging. The Skiller SGM3 comes in a satin cardboard box with reflective detailing on the Sharkoon logo, model name, and specs. Already on the cover we are shown its greatest qualities: use with and without cable (dual), RGB lighting and connectivity at 2.4Ghz. In our case, the sample model is the gray edition but there are a total of four colors to choose from.
Next, on the right side of the box there is a detailed map of the mouse wheel area and its DPI button, while on the left we find the most detailed specifications.
Then, on the back of the box, we find a description of other highlights as well as an informative image on the mouse itself where we can see the color of our specific model. The information that appears translated into a total of twelve languages is as follows:
- Dual mode gaming mouse: wired USB and 2.4GHz wireless. Integrated wireless and USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Illuminated RGB logo with battery level indication. Optical sensor with 6, 000 DPI. Omron switches on the left and right mouse buttons.
Likewise, in the lower right corner, the content that we should find in the box is listed. Finally, another nice detail is that on the cover, the box has a magnetic closing window that allows us to take a look at the size and shape of the mouse without opening it. On the left side we can find an outline with indications of the outstanding features that we have previously listed as well as a description of the Skiller SGM3:
No cable restriction! The dual connectivity of Skiller SGM3 allows you to play pc games with or without cable for maximum manageability. The mouse receives enough power through its built-in lithium battery, which can be conveniently recharged via USB or wireless charger. It features a professional optical sensor with up to 6, 000 DPI and seven programmable buttons for full control.
We show you the SKILLER SGM3 fresh out of the box. In our case the model is of the gray edition.
Here we show you the content you must find in the box:

SKILLER SGM3 design
First of all we must tell you that it is an ambidextrous grip mouse, allowing a comfortable grip on as many players as possible.
Whether you are with a palmar grip, a fingertip or a claw, we must say that it adapts very easily to any of them since the length of action of the left and right buttons reaches almost to the mediation of the mouse itself.
The Skiller SGM3 features black sides made of textured non-slip rubber. It allows a very firm and solid grip and for people who have a tendency for their hands to sweat a lot during games or long work sessions, they will appreciate that the slightly slimy texture that occurs in mice with smooth plastic sides does not originate.
On the left side, however, we find two fully programmable quick access side buttons with macros using the software included in the model. These buttons are not completely flat, but have a slightly triangular shape that makes them very recognizable to differentiate to the touch with respect to the rubber of the grip under them. The space between the two is very well marked by a slight depression inwards at the ends of both buttons, thus helping not to accidentally press one of them.
Next, the scroll wheel has shiny aluminum detail while the rubber is grooved by notches and is also non-slip. The noise it generates when turning is practically non-existent, while pressing it we can hear a small click. Next to it we can find the name of the model Skiller serigraphed in black.
Lastly, the DPI adjustment button is embedded in a slot. The material is smooth plastic, but they have included some depressions and grooves to prevent our finger from sliding on it. Clicking up increases the DPI with a higher click, while pressing down makes the sound slightly more muted. By default, these are the assigned DPI:
- RED: 600 DPI BLUE: 1, 200 DPI GREEN: 2, 400 DPI YELLOW: 3, 600 DPI ORANGE: 4, 800 DPI PINK: 6, 000 DPI
As you can imagine, all these speeds and the colors assigned to them are customizable through the software, as we will show you in the commissioning section.
Moving to the base of the mouse, we can find a total of five friction pad surfaces. They are made of a semi-rigid and shiny material. From all of them we can find a replacement that is provided inside the box in consideration of any setback.
Going into the details, we find an On and Off button for its activation as well as information about its serial number, model and the Quality Certificate. Also next to the lens we can find its operating radius: 5 volts and 30mA sensitivity.
Finally, in the lower area of the mouse we find information on how to interpret the RGB lighting signals of the logo (illuminated by LEDs):
- Flashing red: less than 10% battery. Lit red: charging. Illuminated in Green: more than 90% of battery.
Above the connector, there is a very firm input port on the mouse. And by firm I mean that you have to make an intentional force to remove the USB connector once it is plugged in. We must recognize that this was one of the points that we were most concerned about: that the cable could “come out” or come off because of the mouse shaking the table like a man possessed. Nothing of that. We must tell you that this is not the case and the safety grip of the plug is very resistant in that regard.
Finally, about the cable, tell you that it is braided fabric and has a length of 1.90. Also, both connectors are gold plated. The included nano USB receiver.
Putting the SKILLER SGM3 into use
This is always our favorite part, let's warm it up.
SKILLER SGM3 illuminated with 2, 400DPI
For starters, the buttons on the Skiller SGM3 have a life expectancy of at least ten million clicks. We have been using SKILLER SGM3 long and hard for both office work and gaming. We have played with both FPS and action games, and we must tell you that it is a hard beast to kill. Mainly we have tested it in wireless mode because we had special interest in checking the latency and response time of this little fish with its 2.4GHz wireless communication and we must say that we have not noticed a difference between it and another competitor mouse with the same number of DPI but with cable. It is true that the marks do not have the same acceleration, but their use is extremely fluid and we have not noticed any jerks or strange movements in the aim. It is fine as silk.
Another thing that impresses with how long it lasts is its battery. Since we loaded it, we have not had to connect it again. With a capacity of 930 mAh, its battery lasts 40 hours of continuous use and the mouse disconnects on its own after five minutes of inactivity, so turn off the PC and go to sleep without having turned off the power switch. base should not take your sleep away.
Test sensitivity, acceleration and DPI
We've also been checking how DPI acceleration is handled. Here's a sample of the mouse's sensitivity at 800 DPI and 30g acceleration.
We have carried out the test with the wireless mouse so as not to feel hampered by the cable and because the main objective of this mouse is to test its reliability with 2.4GHz.
Apart from this, and because we know that gamers are interested, we show you here a test play of the SKILLER SGM3 in Overwatch, leaving in-game performance statistics visible.
- In this case the mouse is configured at 2, 400 DPI. 1000Hz / 1ms response Test carried out with the mouse in wireless mode We have an average latency of 48 milliseconds ( in-game / on-line ). Interpolation delay of 20 milliseconds ( in-game / on-line ). Sensitivity 2 ( in-game ).
In general we must say that the behavior of the mouse is very smooth and that we have not been able to appreciate any type of latency problem in our week of use. The results are very reliable with and without cable.
Operation of the SKILLER SGM3 Software
We liked the software because of how clear and concise it is. At a glance you can see where everything is and what you must do to change it. Once we download it from the official Sharkoon website, it is installed without restarting the system. Another thing that you will like to know that it has very little impact on the operating system unlike other more bullets such as those of Razer or Corsair.
Here you have the main screen of the software e. In it we highlight the DPI and its relationship with the lighting of the Sharkoon logo, while on the left you can see the health of the battery. We leave you a few screenshots on its different menus to calibrate. You can customize almost everything: custom macro profiles for games, mouse speed, buttons, lighting, DPI… the SKILLER SGM3 makes it easy for you to assemble it to your liking.

Final words and conclusions about SKILLER SGM3
In short, we must tell you that Sharkoon has scored somewhat with the SKILLERR SGM3. Not only because of how extremely well it works even when using wirelessly, but because thanks to its software you can always make a more advanced configuration if the one that is given by default is not enough and you are a player who appreciates that possibility. The duration of its battery seems practically eternal and the only thing that we cannot verify is whether it will continue to be so for several years to come.
Likewise, our overall impression is frankly good and we consider it a spectacular option compared to competing brands or models with higher prices. If you want a mouse for a fair price, SKILLER SGM3 is for you.
